Ayurvedic Treatment for Memory Lose Anxieties

Age-related memory loss fears- “I am over 60; will I lose my memory as I age older?” “Am I forgetting something? Alzheimer...Oh God nooo...!”

Indeed, even films are made on age-related memory loss. How could anybody not remember the popular movie, The Notebook! But yes, memory loss is something we all have within us.

At what age do memory loss occurs

When we talk about the memory loss first thing that comes to mind is Alzheimer or dementia, typically refers to age-related memory loss. Yet, memory loss might hit you as early as in your mid-20s or 50s or 60s.

Symptoms

  • Trouble with memory, or confusion.
  • Struggling to communicate thoughts.
  • A change in mood. Depression, for instance.
  • Along with mood changes, you may also observe a shift in personality.
  • Losing interest in hobbies or activities.
  • Unable to complete normal tasks.
  • Difficulty finding and using the right words.

However, if you or your loved one is experiencing memory problems, don’t right away conclude that it’s dementia.

Causes of memory loss

  • Aging.
  • Depression, anxiety, brain tumours, and stress.
  • Dementia, Alzheimer.
  • Undernourishment.
  • Lack of sleep.
  • Alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Certain drugs like sleeping pills, anti-depressants, cholesterol and sugar level control medicines
  • Difficulty finding and using the right words.

Ayurveda has a lot of advantages to our body and mind. One of the prominent benefits of Ayurveda is a reduction in stress, heart rate, and blood pressure.

How to prevent dementia with Ayurveda

  • Herbs like Ashwagandha, Brahmi, Shankhapushpi, Vacha, Bhringaraja, Mandukaparni, are proved beneficial in treating memory loss. Boil ½ tsp of Brahmi powder or any of the above herbs in a glass of milk and drink daily at bedtime.
  • Do regular body and head massage.
  • Avoid sleeping pills and instead start taking herbal capsules made from Brahmi, Ashwagandha, and Jatamansi.
  • Manage your stress and anxiety by practicing yoga, pranayama, and meditation.
  • Go for a regular walk to enhance your circulation.
  • Give your brain some exercise by reading, playing games, etc.
