Infertility is indeed a major problem today. In olden days, having 3 to 4 children was a routine. This was due to the fact that a child’s average lifespan was very less due to the outbreak of epidemics and other untoward circumstances. With advancements in medical science,
the average lifespan has increased tremendously from a mere 45 in
30s and 40s to 65 years, today. In many countries across Europe and USA, the lifespan
is still higher with an average of 75 to 78 years.
Today, the scenario has shifted; people have started to plan families with just one or two children, and the Government is promoting the same. Late marriages and familial pressures have created a tremendous impact on a couple’s fertility. Couples find it convenient to have a stable life and then raise a family. But when they do start thinking about raising a family, they come across issues.
The reasons of infertility could be plenty. Rising stress levels, lack of spending quality time together, irregular sleep and dietary factors, physical and anatomical defects, etc.

Sinuses are blind sacs in the skull. These are the cavities in the bone responsible for making the skull light, humidifies air, normalizes the air temperature that we breathe in and gives voice a particular tone. Connected to the nasal cavity, sinuses get filled with fluid and germs, leading to blockages and infection, thereby resulting in a condition called Sinusitis. Air pollution, weather fluctuations, unhealthy food habits and incorrect sleeping patterns are the main causes for sinusitis.
Today’s lifestyle and dietary patterns have caused us more harm than even during the times of famines and floods. In the olden days, the natural way of life our ancestors followed, by consuming fresh produce and indulging in strenuous activities meant they remained in shape both physically and mentally. This scenario has changed over the years. More people are dying of heart attack nowadays, than due to adversities in a war zone.
Ayurveda is calling us back to seek nature, asking us to adopt the lifestyle our ancestors led. They followed regular dietary patterns, ate organic seasonal fruits, millets and whole grain cereals. They also performed physical labor to support their families. Hence, we are trying our bit to correct irregularities in individuals’ lives by adopting customized packages for management of lifestyle as well as metabolic disease with confidence.

Today, Geriatrics and Gerontology (study of aging) are major branches in family medicine. You may have noticed Geriatric Wards springing up in most hospitals, nowadays. The reason for this might be due to the fact that with increasing life expectancy, better medical facilities and lesser mortality rates, more and more people are growing old.
This has led them to encounter a number of physical, mental and emotional problems. The lack of a familial support system, financial crunch, elder abuse, neglect, bereavement due to death of spouse are factors that lead to further depression in the elderly.
In Rasayana Chikitsa adhyayam of Charaka, the herbs and procedures that alleviate ‘Jara’, which translates to ‘wrinkles’, is meant to be Rasayana “Yat Jara Vyadhi Nashanam, Tat Rasayanam”.Geriatrics or old age is considered a way of life and it is left to the individual to either take it as it is or live happily by adopting the principles of Ayurveda.
AKAMI Ayurveda works on multiple fronts for the elderly. The biggest advantage of having AKAMI Ayurveda as a health partner is that our therapies improve joint and locomotion functions that are hampered due to senile changes.
Ayurveda prophesies to root out toxins and diseases off the body by a very specialized therapeutic procedure – PANCHAKARMA. “Pancha” in Sanskrit denoted the number five and “Karma” means actions or procedures. Panchakarma is thereby a fivefold treatment procedure that is administered to a person for various ailments and also as a means to eliminate toxins from the body. As any treatment procedure, the process of Panchakarma requires us to prepare the patient, prior to the main course of the fivefold treatment.
